Foundation Governor for Bishop Gilpin School
The PCC of the Parish of Wimbledon is looking for one new Foundation Governor for Bishop Gilpin school to play an energetic role in the governance of this successful local Church of England school.
The PCC would prefer an active, communicant member of one of the Team Churches (St Mary’s, St Mark’s, St John’s or St Matthews) to represent them. Candidates should have time to attend early morning or evening meetings around four times a term.
The Governing Body is looking for a Governor with expertise in one or more of the following areas: HR, Estates Management / H&S, SEND or sustainability. In addition, those with prior school governance experience are very welcome. The board is looking to ensure leadership succession and is interested in candidates who would consider the role of Chair or Vice-Chair positions in the future.
In line with Merton's drive across all governing bodies to consider diversity in their appointments, the board is actively looking to increase its ethnic minority representation to be reflective of the diversity of the school community.
It is not necessary to have children at the school, or indeed any children at all! For further details, as well as the application form, please see the attached documents.
The closing date for applications is 10th November 2025
The interviews will be held between 3pm and 5pm on Monday 17th November in Bishop Gilpin School.
